Alex McCord thinks she knows why the majority of Real Housewives marriages fail

Former TheReal Housewives of New Yorkstar Alex McCord is off the show and has relocated to Australia, but she still has plenty of opinions. In an appearance on Australia’s Sunrise, McCord slammed the current RHONY stars’ decision to stay on the show for so long.

Us Weekly reports that the July 5 interview got pretty heated as McCord accused the women of choosing fame over family. “All the women who stayed on the show have lost their marriages and their family,” said McCord. “Why would you ever give up your children and your husband for crazy women?”

She’s likely referring to the contentious divorce of new RHONY Housewife Jules Wainstein and her husband Michael, not to mention the years-long divorce saga of Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy, plus Ramona Singer’s divorce after her husband Mario’s affair. But the trouble may not stay in New York: Just today, TheReal Housewives of Atlanta‘s Cynthia Bailey announced that she’s divorcing her husband Peter Thomas. TheReal Housewives of Beverly Hills‘ Yolanda and David Foster are splitting up. But is it fair to say that the show is the problem?

McCord says the show, like all television, isn’t what it seems to be. “The funny thing is when I look back and remember the parties and events, and they look so glamorous but they never are,” she said. “It’s not very glam in real life. Anyone who has had that life would understand.”
