Gayle King shares lots of details about her husband’s affair

Can the pain of your husband cheating on you ever really go away? Apparently not, according to Gayle King. It’s been over twenty years since King caught her ex-husband William Bumpus with another woman. But time fades pain, it doesn’t fade bad memories. In a new interview with Vanity Fair, King reveals that she remembers every little detail of her ex’s bad behavior.

King is asked a grab-bag of quick questions from “Who do you most admire?” (she answers Oprah, natch) to “What is your motto?” and, interestingly, “Which living person do you most despise?”.

She doesn’t hesitate in saying her ex-husband’s former flame takes the dubious trophy. “‘Despise’ is a strong word,” she said. “I’m not a huge fan of the woman I caught naked with my now ex-husband on June 24, 1990, at 9:16 p.m. – but I don’t remember the details.”

As Us Weekly points out, this isn’t the first time that King has spoken of her ex-husband in interviews. She once elaborated on her marriage to — of all people — Will Smith, when he appeared as a guest on her SiriusXM radio show. “I was married to a cheater,” she said. “I went to marital counseling. I have been divorced since 1993, so I’m all healed and everything. I have worked it out. I’m not bitter. I’m OK. I’m really OK.” It’s like if she keeps saying it, we’ll believe it!
