RHONY‘s LuAnn de Lesseps had to know her fiancé had a past with other women

Sonja Morgan has never been coy about the men in her life, so it was only a matter of time that she dropped the bomb on LuAnn de Lesseps’ relationship with Tom D’Agostino.

In tonight’s episode of TheReal Housewives of New York, Morgan informs de Lesseps and the rest of the girls that she had a friends with benefits relationship with D’Agostino for about a decade. While de Lesseps claimed she didn’t care what D’Agostino did “pre-Luann” you could definitely tell that the news bothered her. But, in my unpopular opinion, I don’t really think she has a reason to be bothered.

De Lesseps and D’Agostino are both in their 50s. The number of men who are her age and live in New York City, who are also single and also float inside her social circle can’t be that high. She had to expect that at some point she was going to know, and possibly be friends with, someone D’Agostino had some kind of relationship with. The fact that it was Morgan is just a numbers game.

It should also be pointed out that de Lesseps herself has enjoyed her single life, as she should.

If we give Morgan the benefit of the doubt, she told de Lesseps about her relationship with D’Agostino as a way to protect de Lesseps from looking foolish if she were to hear it from anyone else. Worse case scenario, Morgan was being petty when she didn’t have to be.

Either way, though, de Lesseps at least said the right thing when she said she doesn’t care about his past, because there’s no way to change it and it’s obviously not going to stop her from marrying him. Why ruin a perfectly fun friendship over something that happened in the past?

What I still think is weird, though, is how Ramona Singer claimed to have dated him, too. I don’t see her having a relationship with someone who Morgan had something with. But that’s an opinion for another time.
