Making a Murderer is getting a Season 2 and we have so many questions

It’s official: Making a Murder will be getting a Season 2 on Netflix. Unlike other recent true crime series — ahem, Serial — that moved on to new cases in their follow-up season, Making a Murder will pick up right where we left off with Steven Avery in Season 1.

“We are extremely grateful for the tremendous response to, and support of, the series,” the show’s creators Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos said in a statement via The Huffington Post. “The viewers’ interest and attention has ensured that the story is not over, and we are fully committed to continuing to document events as they unfold.”

Since Season 1 obviously didn’t leave everything tied up in a neat little bow, there are a ton of details and people that we need updates on.

More:8 things to know if you don’t feel like watching it Season 1 of Making a Murderer

1. Steven Avery

Clearly, we need to know what’s going on with Avery while he’s behind bars. Is he still doing research in his own defense? How did the romantic relationship with Sandra Greenman come about?

Season 2 should also shed some light on how Avery is faring during his second incarceration.

2. Brendan Dassey

Many believe that Avery’s situation is amazingly unjust, but perhaps the most heartbreaking thing about the whole case is what happened to Dassey. Recent photos of Avery’s young nephew have been circulating in the media since Making a Murderer came out in December, and he really does look like he’s suffering.

Hopefully Season 2 will explain if Dassey’s case is being reexamined, and tell us if he has a new lawyer helping him out as well.

3. Kreepy Kratz

We know that Kratz won’t be involved with Avery’s appeal that is to be filed sometime in August, since he resigned from his district attorney post in 2009 after text messages he sent harassing an assault victim became public.

However, we also know that Kratz is attempting to profit from the case by hocking a book, so you know his grill will be all up in Season 2. Not that we want to have to live through his disturbing voice and demeanor again, but you have to admit, you’re morbidly curious about what ol’ Kreepy Kratz has been up to since he lost his job.

4. New DNA evidence

Ever since high-profile attorney Kathleen Zellner took over Avery’s defense, she’s been hinting that she has DNA evidence that will turn the whole case on its ear. In June, Zellner revealed she is having high-tech tests done on murder victim Teresa Halbach’s RAV4 key that was found — and possibly planted — by Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Lieutenant James Lenk in Avery’s bedroom.

Furthermore, will Zellner finally explain other glaring holes in the story, like the fact that no traces of Halbach’s blood was found in Avery’s bedroom or garage?

Honestly, Zellner’s expertise is the huge thing we are going to be watching for in the new season. Can’t wait to see what she has in store.

5. The dream(y) team

Zellner may have taken over Avery’s case, but that doesn’t mean we still don’t want to know what his former attorneys Dean Strang and Jerry Buting are up to. They’ve probably moved on with their professional lives, but it’s likely that the Avery case still haunts them.

6. Avery’s parents

The pain of what Avery’s elderly parents have been through is almost as sad as what has happened to Dassey. Season 1 saw Allan and Dolores Avery spending every dime they had on their son’s defense, as well as becoming the pariahs of their community — even more than they were before.

7. Jodi Stachowski

Stachowski, Avery’s ex, stood by his side throughout Season 1, but shortly after Making a Murder hit Netflix, she totally changed her tune and proclaimed that Avery is a monster. Something tells us there’s much more going on when it comes to this part of the story.

8. The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department

Have any of the Manitowoc County officials sprouted a conscience and come forward to tell the truth about what really happened during their investigation? It’s doubtful, but we’re still dying to hear what kind of cockamamie things they have to say now.

Now tell us: What do you need to have updates on in Making a Murderer Season 2?
