There have been a lot of shocking celebrity breakups already this year, but none more shocking than Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney. On Tuesday the rumors of a split began swirling, with People magazine claiming that the couple had called it quits after five years together because of the pressures of having a long-distance relationship.

The couple were supposed to be planning their wedding — Kinney proposed with a stunning heart-shaped engagement ring last Valentine’s Day — but instead things seem to have taken an unexpected turn, with TMZ claiming that sources close to the couple have confirmed the breakup; and now Lady Gaga herself has broken her silence.
Taking to Instagram in the early hours of Wednesday morning, Gaga posted a photo of herself and Kinney embracing as they walked into the distance, in which she described Kinney as her “soulmate” and suggested that their romance may not be over for good, emotionally appealing to fans to root for them.
She wrote, “Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates. Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break. We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared. Please root us on. We’re just like everybody else and we really love each other.”

Fans have showed their support for the star in the comment section of the post, and it’s evident that people are not ready for the Gaga-Kinney romance to be over for good.
