Miranda Kerr‘s romance with Evan Spiegel has been making a lot of headlines this week: First there were reports from Us Weekly, in which a source claimed that Spiegel was getting ready to propose and was starting to look at rings — and now there are reports that the pair are already engaged.

According to The Sun, Kerr was spotted wearing a massive diamond sparkler on her ring finger when she stepped out in Malibu. So, while we can’t be certain whether these two have actually taken the next step in their relationship, one thing we do know is that they are pretty serious about each other. But who is Evan Spiegel?
In short, he’s a billionaire and the founder and CEO of Snapchat, but there’s more to him than that.

1. He’s younger than Miranda
Born on June 4, 1990 (which makes him 26 years old, for all those bad at math), Spiegel is younger than Kerr, who is 33. But that doesn’t mean that he isn’t very mature for his age.
Speaking during an interview with Net-a-Porter’s weekly digital magazine The EDIT, Kerr told the publication, “He’s 25, but acts like he’s 50. He’s not out partying. He goes to work in [L.A.’s] Venice [Beach]. He comes home. We don’t go out. We’d rather be at home and have dinner, go to bed early.”
2. He’s extremely successful
Spiegel is the world’s youngest billionaire (and he’s reportedly engaged to one of the world’s most beautiful women, so he’s really not doing too bad for himself). But he didn’t come up with the idea of Snapchat overnight, according to Entrepreneur. He started the app — which allows users to send messages that delete shortly after being opened — as a Stanford school project with his fraternity brothers Frank Reginald ‘Reggie’ Brown IV and Bobby Murphy.
Which brings us to our next point, he’s not afraid to burn bridges.

3. He’s been sued by his former friend
According to Entrepreneur, Brown sued Spiegel for forcing him out of Snapchat’s founding team — Brown claimed in his legal documents that he was an instrumental part of Snapchat’s creation and requested a 20 percent stake in the company. The lawsuit was settled in 2014, but we think it’s safe to say these two aren’t friends anymore.
4. He’d make a great stepdad
Kerr has one son, Flynn, from her previous marriage to Orlando Bloom, and her 5-year-old already approves of the new man in her life — and so does her ex-husband.
“We had to know the person for six months and feel good about them,” she told The EDIT. “Evan met Flynn, so, yeah, things are going well. Orlando thinks he’s great. We’re just a modern family now!”
5. He hasn’t always been the nicest guy in the room
As with most famous people, there comes a time when their deep dark secrets are going to be exposed, and Spiegel had some very ugly ones. In May of 2014, emails that Spiegel had sent when he was 23 years old — in which he expressed homophobic and misogynistic views — were exposed by tech blog Valleywag.
However, according to Entrepreneur, Spiegel took ownership of his past actions and admitted in an email to Business Insider that he had “no excuse” for them and that they in no way “reflect who I am today or my views towards women.”
6. He’s made Miranda very, very happy
Miranda Kerr really does seem to have found “the one” in Spiegel, as her Instagram post in dedication of his birthday proves this. She captioned the sweet photo with, “Happy Birthday to my love!!! I feel so incredibly blessed to have you as my partner.” Awww.

7. He’s a Friends fan, kinda
Kerr and Spiegel live together in a swanky seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom mansion in California, costing a cool $12 million ($A16.4 million). But before he lived with Kerr, he enlisted the help of Friends set designer, Greg Grande, to decorate the house he lived in with his father as a teen, Digital Spy reports.
8. He’s a college dropout
Like many hugely successful entrepreneurs, formal schooling was not that important to Spiegel, because according to Digital Spy, in 2012, he dropped out of Stanford and his course in Product Design (just a few credits short of earning his degree).
