Summer — it’s such a hard time for new TV shows to gain traction. There have been some excellent additions to this season’s lineup, like CBS’ American Gothic and Netflix’s Stranger Things, but still there are a number of shows that might not live to see another season.
Here are some series we think might be on the chopping block this summer.
1. Zoo
Between needlessly killing off major characters and relying on shocking imagery (like the super creepy snake GIF above), I think it’s safe to say that Zoo has jumped the shark. Couple that with the fact that its numbers have been in steady decline, and you’ve got some prime reasons why this show is at the top of our cancellations list.
2. Pretty Little Liars
Speaking of jumping the shark, this once-beloved Freeform series started to go a little over the top last season. There have also been plenty of hints from the show’s stars and production that the end is nigh for PLL.
Pretty Little Liars continues to be one of the most talked-about shows on social media, but even die-hard fans will admit that the series has gotten downright ridiculous.
3. BrainDead
Being that BrainDead was created by Michelle and Robert King — the team behind The Good Wife — there was a lot of promise going into this new series. But the show was just moved from its Monday night slot to Sunday night, and many have presumed the move to be BrainDead‘s death rattle.
4. Top Gear
This once super popular BBC show catering to automobile enthusiasts is turning out to have more behind-the-scenes drama than the Real Housewives franchise — and it’s not helping ratings.
The trouble dates back to a beef with production and the original cast — Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May — back in 2015, leading the OG crew to be replaced with Matt LeBlanc, Chris Evans and Rory Reid. Soon after the new lineup of presenters took over, gossip spread like wildfire that LeBlanc and Evans didn’t get along, and Reid even recently said that joining the show was “like being a soldier parachuted into a war,” according to The Guardian.
Evans quit the show in early July after filming just five episodes, and viewership has been plummeting in the new season.
5. Feed the Beast
AMC’s new drama has been panned by critics across the board, and ratings have echoed the sentiments. David Schwimmer fans were excited for him to star in another series after watching him kill it in American Crime Story in early 2016, but Feed the Beast has failed to get people talking.

6. Guilt
If you’re able to embrace the cheesiness of Guilt, it really isn’t that bad a show, but it’s also a thinly veiled rip-off of the Amanda Knox trial. Numbers are low for this freshman series, and things aren’t looking too hot for a renewal.
But then again, Freeform has kept around low-rated shows — ahem, Stitchers — for several season in the past, so you never know.
7. Roadies
We really wanted this show to work. The premise is interesting, it’s got an awesome cast (hello, Carla Gugino and Luke Wilson!) and it was created by the power team of Cameron Crowe and J.J. Abrams, but Roadies just hasn’t been able to capture viewers’ interest since it premiered June 13 on Showtime.
It has already been compared an awful lot to HBO’s Vinyl — created by Terence Winter, creator of Boardwalk Empire and writer for The Sopranos — which had a weak showing and was canceled after 10 episodes.
8. Aquarius
Aquarius didn’t do great in its 2015 freshman season, and many were shocked that it even got called up for a Season 2. The NBC show has shown improvements in its ratings so far since the season premiere in June, but viewership is still nothing spectacular, so it’s hard to imagine this series going on to a Season 3.
9. Tyrant
There’s certainly no shortage of drama on this FX show, but it just doesn’t seem to be attracting many viewers. The network decided to give Tyrant another chance with Season 3 after low numbers in Season 2, and while there have been slight improvements in ratings this year, it just doesn’t seem like enough for a Season 4.
