It’s been widely publicly accepted that Cyrus and her ex-fiance Liam Hemsworth are back together, even though neither of them has really admitted it. And they may be engaged or they may not, depending on who you ask and when — everyone from Cyrus’ dad to random fans has an opinion on that one.
Cyrus has been seen in pics here and there wearing the giant diamond sparkler that Hemsworth gave her back in 2011 when he proposed, and that’s what set off the rumors that, years later, the wedding was back on for these two.

Now, there’s a new update that may throw another wrench in things. Cyrus posted a photo on Instagram that shows her chilling in the pool with an old pal, Phantogram’s Sarah Barthel, and her left ring finger is clearly visible in the snap. Only she’s not wearing the familiar ring that Hemsworth popped the question with — but she is wearing something.
Is it just me, or does that look suspiciously like a wedding band? Admit it — no one would be surprised if these two got hitched without anyone in the public knowing about it. They’ve managed to not talk about their maybe, maybe-not engagement for what, a year now? A secret engagement is pretty good practice for a secret wedding.
What may be even more important than the ring, however, is that Cyrus is hanging out with Barthel again. They collaborated on a track on Cyrus’ Dead Petz album, and it was magical. Does their pool day mean they might collab again? One can only hope.
