Full Frontal with Samantha Bee went all-in on the Democratic National Convention this week, and that included sending producer and Full Frontal correspondent Allana Harkin to cover the Bernie or Bust protestors that staged walk outs throughout the Convention, protests outside, and interrupted speeches regularly over the course of the four-day event. And, boy, did those Bernie or Busters (Bernie Sanders supporters who refuse to vote for Hillary Clinton in the general election) have a lot of crazy things to say.

The segment featured various Bernie or Busters who all agreed that Hillary Clinton had stolen the election, and that Jill Stein could be the third party candidate they are looking for — you know, your average Bernie Bro narrative. But there was also a handful of Sanders’ voters who, with a straight face, told Harkin that they believed that Donald Trump would be better than Clinton. “He might turn out to be the lesser of two evils,” one man shouted gleefully. But, these Bernie Bros weren’t just willing to consider the idea that Trump might be better for the country than Clinton — they were ready to put their money where their mouths were (or, I guess, put their votes where there idiot brains are). That’s right, Full Frontal actually featured real people who really said that they would vote for Trump over Clinton — really.

Here’s the thing, Bernie or Busters, I understand where you’re coming from, I really do. I’ve always considered myself a liberal, and I believe in many of the ideas and policies Bernie Sanders put forward during the primary. But, the primary is now over, and it’s time to grow up. If this Full Frontal segment proved anything, it’s not that Bernie or Busters truly believe in pushing forward a progressive platform, it’s that even the Bernie Sanders supporters have gotten a bit too wrapped up in the drama of the primary. Need proof? When asked by Harkin whether his whiteness made it easier for him to say that he would be alright with a Trump presidency, one Bernie or Buster essentially confirmed it. To be clear, this is a Bernie Sanders supporter admitting, on national television, that he can afford to be Bernie or Bust because he is white — so to hell with everyone else, right? Needless to say, the excellent piece fully succeeded in exposing how shortsighted (not to mention just plain strange) the Bernie or Bust movement really is.

This isn’t the first time Full Frontal has attempted to demonstrate the ridiculousness of Bernie or Busters, and, unfortunately, it probably won’t be the last. Until next time, Bernie Bros, May I never have to put up with your nonsense without Samantha Bee to guide my way.
