Teen Mom 2‘s Javi Marroquin has a super-adorable reunion with his sons

Teen Mom 2‘s Javi Marroquin and Kailyn Lowry might not be a couple anymore, but that doesn’t mean they’ve stopped being a family. On Aug. 1, Marroquin took to Instagram to document his return to the States after a six-month deployment in Qatar and his reunion with son Lincoln and stepson Isaac, and of course MTV‘s cameras were there to greet him.

After much speculation and a lot of quarreling on camera, Marroquin and Lowry announced in May that they were ending their almost four-year marriage. The two have a son, Lincoln, 2. Isaac, Lowry’s 6-year-old son with ex Jo Rivera, shares a tight bond with Marroquin. “Isaac is my best friend,” he told Dr. Drew on the most recent Teen Mom 2 reunion, and he confessed that he did want to remain married to Lowry so their family could stay together.

Lowry admitted that the fact that Isaac and Javi are so close made filing for divorce more difficult, but she was determined to follow through with it, in spite of Dr. Drew’s feelings about the situation on the reunion. Lowry struggled to be a single mom of two and a student while Marroquin was away, and she made her frustration with her husband’s control issues and anger known on last season of Teen Mom 2. In spite of the strained state of Marroquin and Lowry’s relationship, Lowry reposted Marroquin’s homecoming picture on her own Instagram account, along with a “welcome home” message.

If the presence of MTV’s cameras are any indication, it looks like we’ll be seeing Marroquin’s reunion with Isaac and Lincoln on an upcoming season of Teen Mom 2, as well as any ensuing drama between Marroquin and Lowry as they try to navigate their relationship now that they’re both in the same place again. These two haven’t hesitated to bring their drama to the show, but here’s hoping they can keep things civil for the sake of Isaac and Lincoln.
