‘NSYNC reunited for one very special reason, and we can’t help but fangirl over it

We’ve been holding out for an ‘NSYNC reunion for more than a decade, and we may have finally gotten one. Well, sort of.

While Justin Timberlake, Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick aren’t planning on creating a new album or even belting out some of their biggest hits onstage (I’m still pretty much obsessed with “Bye Bye Bye” and “It’s Gonna Be Me”), they did reunite over the weekend for one very special reason: JC Chasez’s 40th birthday.

Fortunately Mr. Timberlake documented the reunion with an epic photo.

Late on Monday night, Timberlake took to Instagram to share an image of himself and his four former bandmates, which he captioned with, “JC’s 40th… And, if you don’t know now you know…”

The men have matured, but they still look as close as ever (just look at those grins), and fans are obviously thrilled to see their favorite boy band together once again.

“Now all that’s needed to complete my boyband concert life is an NSYNC tour,” v.hlee gushed. “You know that’s a sold out show there.”

“Omg! I fell outta my chair at this! I’m still listening to all of your music like it’s 2001! #notashamed #faveboyband #onemoreconcertplz,” wrote indigo_oceans.

“I’m fangirling pretty hard over dis pic,” crai88 commented. And againes1986 was also transported to their childhood. They wrote, “Be still my heart! taking me back to 6th grade!”

It’s a pretty rare occasion to see ‘NSYNC together again because, as E! News notes, they’ve chosen to keep their reunions few and far between. In fact, this marks the first time since 2013 (when we got to enjoy a 90-second reunion during Timberlake’s MTV VMA Video Vanguard Performance) that all five men have made a public appearance, and although there have been rumors every once in a while that the boy band may actually reform, it’s highly unlikely.

However, we now have this photo, and it’s taking us back to our teenage years in a big way!
