Can’t get enough of Game of Thrones? Good news, there’s a concert

We’re not going to lie, we mourned a little when Game of Thrones Season 6 came to an end, because it’s just one of those series we couldn’t get enough of. The good news is that there’s something else in the pipeline for die-hard fans: a GOT concert.

Live Nation and HBO have teamed up to promote composer Ramin Djawadi’s live concert, which will be performed across 28 cities in North America — including Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver — and it’s going to be anything but your typical concert because the creators are offering viewers a “state-of-the-art experience.”

“For the past six seasons of Game of Thrones, I have been tremendously inspired to compose music to David Benioff’s and D.B. Weiss’ extraordinary adaption of George R.R. Martin’s epic A Song of Fire and Ice series,” Djawadi said. “Now, by combining the music with state-of-the-art technology, we are going to bring the astonishing world of Westeros to fans in a live and unique concert experience.”

Yes, we’re excited to relive some of the most memorable scenes and have the musical experience, but what can we really expect to see?

According to Billboard, Djawadi will conduct an 80-piece orchestra and choir through some of the series’ favourite scenes, all atop a 360-degree stage. But that’s not all — the concert will also feature massive LED screens and special 3-D designs that will reportedly rise from the stage floor.

OK, now we’re getting excited — and we aren’t the only ones.

Djawadi revealed that the concert has “been a couple of years in the planning,” adding, “we really wanted to make it a special event. We wanted it to be an immersive experience so that when you’re walking into the [arena], you are in Westeros.”

Djawadi is reluctant to reveal too much about the upcoming concert but is excited to introduce classical music to those who would usually avoid it (at all costs).

Tickets are currently on sale on Live Nation, and the concert will be held at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena on April 1, 2017, Toronto’s Air Canada Centre on March 4, 2017, and the Montreal’s Bell Centre on March 3, 2017. For more dates, head over to the Live Nation website.
