Sorry, Justin Bieber, but Selena Gomez didn’t need to use you for attention

What year is it, again? Former couple Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber engaged in an Instagram comment war of the century tonight, #SelenaEndedJustinParty trended on Twitter, and our hearts broke a little bit over all the love lost.

It all started when Bieber posted several photos with new rumored girlfriend Sofia Richie, Lionel Richie’s daughter, on Instagram. After the “Cold Water” singer shared the pics, some of his fans started leaving hate comments on 17-year-old Richie’s Instagram photos.

Bieber then took to Instagram to stand up for his rumored new bae, saying, “I’m gonna make my Instagram private if you guys don’t stop the hate this is getting out of hand, if you guys are really fans you wouldn’t be so mean to people that I like.”

Suddenly, Gomez surprisingly decided to get involved and stand up for Bieber’s fans. She posted a comment on the photo, saying, “If you can’t handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol. It should be special between you two only. Don’t be mad at your fans. They love you and supported you before any one ever did.”

Bieber commented back, “It’s funny to see people that used me for attention and still try to point the finger this way. Sad. All love.”

Sorry, Bieber, but Gomez didn’t need to use you for attention. She was a famous actress slaying the game before your career even started. Plus, she’s currently the most followed person on Instagram. She’s a superstar in her own right.

Additionally, does the girl crying in the “The Hearts Wants What It Wants” music video look like someone who just dated someone for attention? No, it looks like a girl who had her heart broken so deeply, so many times, that she barely knew how to pull herself back together and move forward.

Bieber followed up with another comment, saying, “I’m not one for anyone receiving hate. Hope u all can be kind to my friends and each other. And yes I love my beliebers.”

Gomez decided to fire back with a serious clapback. The “Hands to Myself” singer commented, “Funny how the ones that cheated multiple times, are pointing fingers at the ones that were forgiving and supportive, no wonder fans are mad. Sad. All love.”

Need some ice for that burn, Bieber? While we definitely don’t think anyone should receive hate, and understand why Bieber stood up for Richie, we also see where Gomez is coming from — Bieber shouldn’t share personal photos online if he can’t take the heat that comes with them.

Gomez also took to Instagram to share a collage of photos with fans. She captioned the pic, “My whole life. You matter most. Thank you letting me do what I love every day.”

This feud seems like it’s been put to rest for now. One thing is for certain — Gomez is done letting Bieber get the last word or make her feel inferior. She’s holding him accountable for his actions and doesn’t care if he knows it. You go, girl!
