If you hoped for an Olsen twins Fuller House cameo, just stop now

If Full House fans are still hoping to see Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen pop up in Fuller House, they had better stop holding their breath. At least in Season 2, the twins who brought Michelle Tanner to life probably won’t be showing up.

Jodie Sweetin dropped the bombshell to Entertainment Tonight and said, “We’ve tried everything. I think we’ve kinda given up.” So I guess that means viewers had better give up on it, too. Michelle’s absence was addressed in Fuller House Season 1 with Danny saying his youngest daughter was busy building her fashion empire in New York. Get it? You know, since the Olsen twins are actually building a fashion empire? After Danny’s declaration, the cast stared at the camera, making their dig even bigger.

In January, creator Jeff Franklin expressed his hope for the two returning at some point to E! News, but based on Sweetin’s comment, it’s not happening anytime soon. “I am still hopeful that Mary-Kate or Ashley or both of them will come back and be a part of it, even if it’s just for an hour,” Franklin said at the time. “We miss that. Everybody does feel that hole in the family. But it’s like all family reunions, there’s always somebody that doesn’t show up. But hopefully next time around, we’ll have them back.”

Yeah, probably not. Based on executive producer Robert L. Boyett’s comments to People in January, Mary-Kate and Ashley just don’t have the time or the acting bug any more. “Ashley said, ‘I have not been in front of a camera since I was 17, and I don’t feel comfortable acting.'” Boyett added, “Mary-Kate said, ‘It would have to be me because Ash doesn’t want to do it. But the timing is so bad for us.'”

At this point, the conversation of “will they or won’t they?” is so old that I, personally, am over it. If they want to take on Michelle again, they will. If they don’t, then they won’t. Like Sweetin said, it’s time for everyone to give up and stop harping on the status of the Olsens.

All that said, it would be fantastic if they made a surprise cameo without anyone knowing. What Full House fan wouldn’t enjoy that?
