We’ve reached the peak of disrespectful rumors about the Kardashian/Jenner sisters. Apparently there are rumors flying around that Kendall Jenner is a lesbian. So many rumors, in fact, that there is now an entire Twitter profile dedicated to “evidence” that she’s in relationships with her best friends.
The profile, called @KendallBeingGay, shows GIFs, pictures and short clips of Jenner interacting with her close girlfriends, using all of it as a way to support the claim that she’s actually gay and just isn’t ready to come out yet.

Judging by the activity on the page, it’s probably run by some young fan who doesn’t know any better, but the topic “Kendall Being Gay” trended on Twitter today, so it’s obviously more than just some “harmless fun.”
Here’s the thing, it’s not OK to out anyone, including celebrities. If Jenner is gay, it’s her information to tell (or not tell) when she wants to. It’s one thing to speculate on who she’s dating, but it’s an entirely different thing to speculate on her sexuality. Both are invasive and unnecessary, but one is dangerous.
If she is dating one of her female friends, that person has an entire family who may or may not know that she’s out as well. There are too many dangerous consequences to let this behavior slide.

It’s sorta depressing that two girls can’t show affection and celebrate each other without people immediately assuming they’re gay. Instead of celebrating some really incredible, supportive friendships between two women, people are jumping to conclusions about something more going on. It’s like no one can fathom women who are champions of each other and aren’t afraid to show their appreciation for that friendship.
In 2016, we should all be better than that.
For better or worse, Jenner is no stranger to insensitive rumors about her personal life. Hopefully she’ll be able to let this one roll off her back. Whether it’s true or not, we’ll support her and respect that she doesn’t ever have to tell us if she doesn’t want to.
