Zayn Malik has accomplished great things since leaving One Direction in March 2015, and his new music and personal style have made him appeal to an even bigger market, but has he forgotten the boy band that first propelled him to stardom?

Hopefully not, but he might not look upon the five years he spent alongside Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson favourably either.
According to a new report, Malik is planning to pen an explosive tell-all autobiography, which will include his thoughts about the time he spent in the hugely successful British group — and he’s not expected to have very nice things to say.
“This book is going to be explosive, and Simon [Cowell] will be furious with Zayn and may even try stop it coming out,” a source told Daily Mail. “But Zayn is determined to reveal the secrets behind the clean image that was always so fiercely protected by the band’s publicity machine.”
Malik has made no secret of his disdain towards the band. He was desperate to leave, and when he did, he basically trashed One Direction, claiming during an interview with The Fader that their music was “generic as fuck. That’s not music I would listen to.”

The book is also expected to include details about his relationship with on-again, off-again girlfriend Gigi Hadid — and we know fans would like to know what really went wrong with his former fiancée, Perrie Edwards, too.
How do fans feel about the news of Malik writing a book that could destroy the squeaky-clean image we’ve always associated with One Direction? It seems they’re somewhat divided.
Clearly many fans can’t wait to get their hands on whatever juicy information Malik is reportedly willing to share.

But others are disgusted and disappointed that he could possibly spill any secrets, and many feel he has no right to do so.

No need to write this book. There are things that are better not to know. Why do you want to spoil their lives?— Julsjuice (@JuliaIlchenko1) August 16, 2016
There’s no denying Malik’s rise to fame would make an interesting story, and a behind-the-scenes look at what happened under the direction of Simon Cowell would be interesting reading, but is it really a good idea to drudge up the past again? A past that Malik looks to be so intent on moving on from?
