Blake Shelton may seem like a nice guy, but he definitely has a checkered past.

Twitter user The Music Tea has unearthed some of Shelton’s old tweets, mostly now deleted, and from 2009 to 2011, he made remarks that were extremely racist, homophobic and misogynistic.
In the first set of screen grabs, Shelton makes a series of “jokes” insulting gay men.
“Grown men who wear Chuck Taylor’s [sic] may as well write on their fore head [sic] “Cucumbers turn me on!!!” he wrote in one tweet. In another, he made fun of a man’s coffee order, writing, “Standing in line at a coffee shop in LA talking with the man in front of me. He orders a skinny caramel latte. I couldn’t tell he was gay!!!” Hard eye roll at that one.

Another set of screen grabs shows another set of homophobic insults that Shelton hurled at the LGBT community.
“If you haven’t noticed Richard Simmons is gay, you haven’t noticed Katy Perry’s boobs..” he wrote in one tweet, hitting the double whammy of being homophobic and misogynistic in one sentence. In another series of tweets, he wrote, “I’m not gay, but I think Ellen is hot!…. Wait a minute.. What?!” and “Deer stand thinkin….. By Blake Shelton How can I be attracted to lesbians?… I’m not gay….” And in another homophobic tweet, Shelton says he “loves [his] gays,” and then immediately backtracks, writing, “Wait.. What?”

Shelton didn’t reserve his disgusting brand of humor for the LGBT community, either. He also tweeted some pretty terrible things about women, at one point writing, “Flying home to sleep with two young blonde and black haired bitches.” In another tweet, he wrote, “Quote of the day… ‘Me picking up bitches in a bar is like you deer hunting in a zoo.'”
According to Fox News, more tweets that weren’t screen grabbed included Shelton begging a person in the next room to “learn some English so I would at least know what he’s planning to bomb!!” And in 2010, Shelton tweeted about his attraction to then-16-year-old Dakota Fanning, writing, “So I just figured out a great excuse for my sick fantasy about Dakota Fanning. I thought she was Amanda Seyfried.”
The fact that Shelton has deleted those past tweets hopefully points to some changes in his viewpoints over the years. Still, there is no excuse for racism, homophobia and sexism from anyone, particularly a grown-ass man, and Shelton owes a lot of apologies for his sick remarks.
