It may come as a surprise to those who have been following Johnny Depp and Amber Heard‘s messy, bitter divorce, but the couple has settled, and apparently peacefully.

The day before they were due in court for another hearing about Heard’s domestic abuse restraining order against Depp, the pair issued a joint statement, saying they had ended their court battle.
“Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love,” they wrote. “Neither party has made false accusations for financial gain. There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm. Amber wishes the best for Johnny in the future. Amber will be donating financial proceeds from the divorce to a charity.”
Reports say Heard will receive a $7 million settlement from Depp, and in return, she agreed to drop her domestic violence case against him, with a stipulation saying she cannot refile for a new restraining order based on the accusations she made during the divorce battle.

Depp has denied Heard’s accusations of domestic abuse throughout their divorce proceedings, but earlier this week, a video emerged online showing the Pirates of the Caribbean actor yelling and slamming cupboard doors during a volatile-looking argument with Heard. Soon after, a photo surfaced showing Depp’s severed finger — reportedly the injury happened as he was smashing bottles and windows during a fight with Heard.
Heard filed for divorce in May, citing irreconcilable differences, and days later, she was granted a temporary restraining order against Depp, who she said verbally and physically abused her throughout their marriage.
