ABC’s Good Morning America is undergoing some big changes now that Michael Strahan is joining the show, and it looks as though he’s bringing everything he learned during his time on Live! with him.

According to Daily Mail, Good Morning America has plans to introduce a live audience to its final half-hour (of its two-hour programming slot) in a bid to improve its ratings. During these 30 minutes, the hosts of the show will reportedly move to a new set on the second floor of Good Morning America‘s Times Square studio and interact with around 100 audience members, in the hopes of creating a more energetic atmosphere.
Another change to the show will be in the topics it covers, with a move away from news-based coverage to focus more on lifestyle and magazine feature type of stories.

Strahan will officially join his co-hosts Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Lara Spencer, Amy Robach and Ginger Zee on Sept. 6, and according to Daily Mail, Spencer will feature more in the second half of the show “to build a rapport between her, Strahan and the new live audience.”
The publication also notes that according to Nielsen Company, the audience for the show is down 10 percent from 2015, and among viewers aged 25 to 54, it’s down 15 percent, which is reportedly the demographic that most advertising rates for news programs are based upon. But the show’s ratings may soon change thanks to Strahan and the implementation of these new ideas.

While the changes over at Good Morning America are great for fans of the show, one person who will probably not be too happy about them is Kelly Ripa. She has already made her feelings about Strahan leaving her show very clear (for those who don’t remember, she was not happy about it at all), and we doubt she’ll look upon the live audience segment favorably.
