In January 2015, Patrick Dempsey and his wife, Jillian Fink, shockingly announced their decision to divorce after 15 years of marriage, but it never quite came to that, and it could have had a lot to do with Dempsey’s performance in the bedroom.

Yep, we’re not even joking about this one. Dempsey and Fink are back together, and during a recent interview with People magazine, he revealed that his marriage “was not something I was prepared to let go of,” adding, “I didn’t feel like we had done all the work. And we both wanted to do that work. That’s where it started.”
And after that, the key to success was simple. As he explained, “You’ve got to keep at it. You’ve got to communicate and stay open and not get lazy. And not give up. And lots of sex!” Um, thanks for that, Patrick!

But in all seriousness, it’s wonderful to hear that the couple is back on track, and the rough patch they went through served as a sort of wake-up call for the actor, who admits that the thought that his marriage could potentially be over was “scary.” He added, “It’s always destabilizing when you’re potentially breaking up a family or you have a big section of your life that’s ending.”
And while he acknowledges that everyone’s path is different, for himself and Fink, letting go was not an option. “Jill and I decided it was time to work on our issues and improve,” he told the publication. “We wanted to be role models for our kids, like, OK, if you have differences, you can work them out.”
Well, here’s to many more happy years for Dempsey and Fink, because they’re definitely one Hollywood couple we want to be in it for the long haul.
