Dance Moms is back, but three major cast members are noticeably missing. Maddie Ziegler, Mackenzie Ziegler and their mom, Melissa Gisoni, have all moved on from their Dance Moms days to bigger and better things, leaving a gaping hole in the heart of the Elite Competition Team.

Now that Ziegler is gone, Miller is looking for her next shining stars to catapult into mainstream success and seems to have her sights set on a student she’s previously neglected, Nia Frazier. While Kendall Vertes seems like the most likely candidate for Miller’s attention, especially considering that Miller manages Vertes’ music career, Miller appears to be headed where the money is and toward a star who is already making moves without her.
While Miller was busy obsessing over Ziegler and trying to turn Brynn Rumfallo into “the next Maddie,” Frazier’s music career has taken off. She’s signed with a separate manager and agent, proving she doesn’t need Miller to skyrocket to the top.

So Miller gave Frazier a trio with two young male dancers and spent lots of time working on the “mature choreography” with her on Tuesday night’s episode, delighting Holly Frazier.
However, Miller can never stay on her best behavior for too long with these moms. As soon as they got to the competition, Miller and Holly got into a huge fight in the dressing room about the lack of training Miller is providing the girls, causing Miller to disappear.
In a surprising twist, Jessalynn Siwa, a dance teacher herself, jumped to the rescue to work with the trios, exuding the most positive attitude we’ve ever seen from her.
Siwa even gave Nia a seriously inspirational pep talk, saying, “It looks good. Your feet look good. You look strong. Use the floor with your feet. They’re phenomenal. Love anyone you want to, yes? Love yourself. Love the way you dance. Be proud of it. That’s the most important thing right there.”

Nia ended up slaying her solo, with Holly calling it a “breakthrough moment.” She even went on to win first place, beating Vertes, JoJo Siwa and Kalani Hilliker’s trio!
However, Miller didn’t even celebrate the win. She was too busy eating popcorn in the audience.
The group routine ended up getting second overall, making Nia the team’s only first place winner at the competition. Miller is right to believe in Nia’s talent. However, she needs to actually support Nia and give her more positive encouragement if she wants to be a part of her success.
