One lucky reporter from The Cut had a total Entourage moment at New York Fashion Week, when he had a conversation with Adrian Grenier that was a little too reminiscent of the episode where Vinnie Chase and his boys head to Joshua Tree to eat a bunch of ‘shrooms and get some perspective on life.
Only this time, the setting was at a pizza joint in New York as opposed to the California desert, and Ari and E were nowhere in sight. Grenier’s musings in the interview, however, were straight out of The Tree… or should we say Burning Man.
“The celebrity thing is what you make it,” Grenier told The Cut. “Look, I have an opportunity to live like Burning Man all the time because I have the opportunity to meet people who can open up and be present with me… and I can shame them for it and act holier than thou or have those authentic moments with people every day. I’m lucky.”

Not that I don’t admire some of Grenier’s politics — his voice is powerful and he does great work advocating for the environment and other causes — but in this particular interview, his philosophy of “live like Burning Man all the time” was in full view, because some of his quotes are a little out there.
For example, he said, “We consume 500 million straws each day. The equivalent of 127 school buses filled with straws. It’s disgusting. There should be children in those school buses, going to school, to learn, not straws.”

And now, all I can think of is Zoolander.
A couple more little nuggets of wisdom:
“I pioneered Williamsburg. It got so gentrified that I had to come to Bushwick. I lived two blocks away, and then this place opened, and I couldn’t afford to live in this neighborhood. We used to have to walk three miles backward in the snow for a cup of coffee when we lived here. Now there’s, like, baristas and cold brew.
“I’m a guy who cares about people. Acting is my day job, but at night, I get to be a superhero. There are superheroes, people who fly or have all these extraterrestrial powers or supernatural abilities. Everybody can be a superhero every day by doing very simple things. Change the world.”

Adrian, we love ya. Please, never stop being you — and never stop living every day like it’s Burning Man.
