Oh, please — who cares if Calvin Harris’ new song is about Taylor Swift?

Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris are never, ever getting back together, and we think they’re both pretty happy about that. But does this really mean that every time Harris drops a new song someone is going to reference his breakup with Swift?

C’mon people! Harris is a musician, and he’s going to make songs that are about love, relationships and — you bet it — breakups. But that doesn’t mean that every time he speaks about moving on from a toxic relationship — like he does in his new track “My Way” — that he’s having a sly dig at Swift.

The lyrics to the track include, “Why wait to say, at least I did it my way/ Lie awake, two faced/ But in my heart I understand/ I made my move and it was all about you.” And Twitter is abuzz with reactions to it.

Yep, it’s clear that people really want this song to be a dig at Swift.

Harris addressed the inspiration for the song during an interview with iHeartRadio in which he explained that the “song’s kind of about breaking out of a situation that you thought was a good thing. Then, you’re way more comfortable out of it.” Note: He mentioned no names.

Are we really to believe that Harris is still so bitter that he’s using every opportunity he can to throw shade?

No, and even if he were, well, then the reaction to his song is a double standard, is it not? We don’t see an outcry when Swift writes songs about her breakups. Nope, we praise her for her songwriting talents and move on. Can the same not be done with Harris? Can we all please just move on?
