I think it’s safe to say that 2016 is Miley Cyrus‘ year. She got a new job as a coach on The Voice, her wedding plans with longtime love Liam Hemsworth are back on, and she and Hemsworth are even rumored to be writing an original play together.
To add the cherry on top of an already great ’16, Cyrus just gave a knockout performance of Bob Dylan’s “Baby, I’m in the Mood for You” with The Roots on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and it opened her up to a whole new, more mature fan base.
Cyrus got up on that stage and proved that she is a consummate entertainer. She worked the crowd perfectly, and her smooth voice was intoxicating. Her singing was so perfect, in fact, that former haters saw the light and hit social media to praise her performance.

Can you say “goosebumps”? Cyrus and The Roots are an amazing combination. I’d totally buy a ticket if they decided to tour together.
Of course, Cyrus’ die-hard fans were hanging around to point out that she’s been this talented all along — not to mention the fact that she’s always had a big heart.
It’s not hard to understand the shock of some of these Tonight Show fans. After all, Cyrus has become more famous for her crazy Instagram posts and outrageous stage performances filled with oversized penis replicas and human-sized leaves of marijuana than for her musical ability.
It’s about time the world took notice of Cyrus’ amazing talent as a performer. I’d love for her to be known as the woman with the booming voice and not the girl who twerked onstage at the VMAs while simultaneously humping a foam finger and Robin Thicke. That’s not to say I don’t celebrate Cyrus’ courage to celebrate her own individuality. I’m just glad her singing is again taking center stage.
Her shining moment on The Tonight Show this weekend just fueled the huge winning streak she was already on.
