Michael Strahan has made it clear that he has no regrets about leaving Live! for Good Morning America, but does he regret the drama that his exit caused with former co-host, Kelly Ripa?

In April, Strahan announced (seemingly out of nowhere) that he would be headed to Good Morning America, and it’s safe to say that Ripa did not take the news well — something which Strahan has now addressed in an interview with People magazine.
“At one point I think we were friends. I don’t know what happened at the end. I learned a lot from her, though,” Strahan told the publication. And yes, things were as bad as the media reports suggested — at least, that’s the way Strahan’s comments make it seem.
“Toward the end of it all, we didn’t really communicate that much,” Strahan says. “I kinda looked at it like, ‘It was what it was.’ I come from a business where you have to collaborate. The show was going well? We’re all winning. That’s all that matters to me.”

However, he does regret the way his sudden departure from the show painted him in such a negative light, and according to Strahan, there’s a lot more to this story than we know.
“The most disappointing thing to me was that I was painted as the bad guy, because I value the way I carry myself,” he confessed. “I don’t want people to see me as ‘Oh, he just ran out, just left them there.’ That’s just not true.”
Whether we’ll ever know exactly what played out behind the scenes with Strahan, Ripa and the Live! crew, we can’t be sure, but his comments do offer us a new angle. He didn’t leave in a hurry, and perhaps there’s more to this story than what has been previously reported.
