You know those days when you wake up, start to flick through the news on your phone, and a headline stops you dead in your tracks?

Today was one on those days.

Reports from TMZ and People say that Brad Pitt is being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services for child abuse.

Reports are unconfirmed — a DCFS public affairs director told E! News that the department can’t confirm or deny that certain individuals are being investigated, and a spokesperson for the LAPD said the department isn’t involved.

TMZ reports that the alleged incident happened on a private plane, where Pitt “got wasted” and “went wild, screaming and getting physical with the kids.” The reports continue to say he was both verbally and physically abusive, even on the tarmac after the plane landed, and the incident was reported anonymously.

Neither Pitt nor Angelina Jolie have commented on the allegations, though a source reportedly close to Pitt has, saying he “takes the matter very seriously and says he did not commit any abuse of his children.”

The insider continued, “It’s unfortunate that people involved are continuing to present him in the worst possible light.”

Jolie shocked the world by suddenly filing for divorce from Pitt this week. She also filed for sole physical custody of their six children, saying that Pitt could have visitation rights. They were together for 12 years before the split.
