Angelina Jolie was more prepared to divorce Brad Pitt than we all realized

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt‘s split may have come out of left field for most of us, but it sounds like Jolie was preparing to file for divorce long before the news went public. She reportedly set up a rental house in Los Angeles for her and her children to stay in once the news broke.

“Angelina and the kids are staying at a rented house in L.A.,” an inside source told Us Weekly. “It is a five-bedroom, 4,400-square-foot bluff-top estate with a private path that leads to the beach.”

Wow, sounds like quite the pad! The house also reportedly has a “lagoon-style heated pool, ocean views, media room, in-home theater, gourmet kitchen, separate guest house with bedroom, bath and gym, spacious patios with ocean-view dining and entertainment space,” according to the inside source. Dang!

So, how much does it cost to rent such a luxurious home? This house reportedly rented for $95,000 a month this summer. No big.

Jolie is reportedly staying in the Malibu house with her six children: Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8. Their new neighbors supposedly include fellow A-listers Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson and Sean Penn.

Things have gotten seriously messy in the media since Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt, with the latest drama surrounding accusations that Pitt was abusive to their children.

According to a source for Page Six, “Angelina and Brad got into an argument while on the plane, and their son, Maddox, stepped in and got caught in the middle. Brad may have been drinking and admits that he yelled at his son, but he insists he did not hit him or attempt to harm him. It was a confrontation that got out of hand.”

The same source also said that “Angelina is putting out the [abuse] story to take the kids away from him. Angelina’s team’s campaign to smear him is so aggressive.”

The Los Angeles Department of Child and Family Services hasn’t commented on whether it’s investigating Pitt, but the FBI did confirm to Us Weekly this week that it’s gathering facts about the case and deciding whether there needs to be a formal investigation.
