Can we just all stop dragging poor Marion Cotillard into Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie‘s divorce drama now?

The French actress, who is starring alongside Pitt in the upcoming drama Allied, has insisted that she and Pitt did not have an affair, and she had no involvement in Jolie’s decision to file for divorce last week.
And now, her longtime boyfriend (and the father of her two children, including the one she’s pregnant with right now), Guillaume Canet, is weighing in, too.
“I don’t usually make it a habit to comment on rumors made about us,” Canet wrote in a post on Instagram. “I also don’t usually talk about my private life, which, until now, I have always attentively protected. But the fury of the tabloids, the venal stupidity of some people calling themselves journalists, the internet trolls who feel braver behind a keyboard, drive me to speak of the pride, love, respect and admiration I have for Marion staying strong and intelligent in the face all these stupid and unfounded accusations.”

He continued, “I think we’re all living with much more important things at the moment and now it’s time to move on and raise the bar a bit. Even if that’s a lot of work for some, I want to be positive. And as Marion said so well, I hope you get better and aspire to something more in your life than constantly sending shit!”
For crying out loud, the couple is expecting a new baby. This should be one of the happiest times of their lives, and they’re spending it fending off rumors that Cotillard is Pitt’s side chick? Ridiculous. Can we please just all agree to keep Cotillard and Canet out of this narrative from now on?
