The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are an adorable couple. They laugh together all the time, they’re touchy-feely in public (as much as royal figures can be, of course), and they just, well… they fit.

However, even happily married Kate Middleton is not immune to the charms of the Canadian prime minister. (Unlike her son, Prince George, who reacted to Trudeau’s offer of a high-five with some disdain this weekend.)
This picture pretty much sums up how we all feel about Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Why does the world — and the duchess — love Trudeau so much? Let us count the reasons. He cuddles pandas. He carries men in wheelchairs. He makes crazy-hard yoga poses look easy. He marches for gay pride. He welcomes refugees, and he’s a loud-and-proud feminist. And yeah, OK, his good looks and youthful charm don’t go unnoticed.
Sure, he might still have some way to go to prove his worth as prime minister to the Canadians who speculate whether he’s all style and no substance. Those who believe he’s less qualified for the role than his ambitious father was (Trudeau senior was PM from 1968 to 1984). Those who don’t think “celebrity appeal” has a place in politics. Maybe they will be proved right.
But in the meantime, let’s not underestimate how much he makes us smile. Kate Middleton included.
The picture was taken on the second day of the royal family‘s visit to western Canada. Leaving 3-year-old Prince George and 16-month-old Princess Charlotte in the care of their nanny in Victoria, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge enjoyed a day in Vancouver, arriving on a seaplane to greet thousands of well-wishers.

Later that day, the royals were joined by Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, to carry out various public engagements, including a visit to Vancouver’s Immigrant Services Society, Kitsilano Coast Guard Station and the Sheway Centre, which provides health and social services support to pregnant women and new mothers with drug and alcohol issues.
The royal tour of Canada wraps up on Oct. 1. Our appreciation of Justin Trudeau is likely to continue for some time.
