Whitney Bates’ pregnancy made me cry twice on Bringing Up Bates

Now, as a woman, pregnancy is the battle our bodies will face. It results in one of the most beautiful occurrences in nature, but until then it can be this exciting and scary package all rolled into one.

Whitney Bates definitely has experienced that up and down roller coaster of pregnancy emotions, and she did it all in one episode of Bringing Up Bates.

Now, I have yet to be pregnant or even be at a point in my life where I’m thinking about pregnancy, but when that doctor said that either Whitney was going to need a c-section or he was going to numb her nether parts and flip the baby manually, my lady bits hurt just thinking about it.

She had every right to feel scared about those options.

I thought Whitney said it best, “The thought of a c-section really does scare me, and there’s been many women out there that have had them and get through them fine, but when you’re told that it’s you that might have to have it, it’s different and it’s scary. You never know what’s going to happen.”

She added, “I know that once I have one there’s a likelihood that if I have another baby I’ll have to have another c-section, and there’s just so many different things that run through your mind.”

At the time of her delivery, the doctor gave her an epidural to attempt to flip the baby prior to deciding to do a c-section. Poor Whitney was so emotional and nervous about the whole thing that she started to cry, which got Kelly Jo crying, which means even I teared up for her.

Luckily, despite all the nerves, the doctor was able to flip the baby like it was no big deal at all.

Whitney even let the cameras stay in the delivery room while she went into labor! And when little Kaci Lynn popped out, you had better believe I started crying again! Zach and Whitney were too cute for words together. They were kissing and crying and just looking into each other’s eyes with such a sense of pride for the new addition to their family. It was beautiful!
