I can’t believe people are suggesting that Kim Kardashian West‘s robbery nightmare was somehow her fault, but that’s just what’s happening today.

According to a security expert named Christopher Hagon, who spoke with People, “If you’re constantly putting information out there, keeping your name in the public eye … keeping details of your wealth in the public eye, then you are … increasing the chances of a possible attack.”
Yeah, excuse my French, but no shit. That doesn’t mean she is to blame.
Kardashian West was reportedly robbed at gunpoint early Monday morning in her hotel room in Paris. She was attacked by five armed and masked men who held her at gunpoint while they stole two cellphones and approximately $10 million worth of jewelry, including a $4 million ring, People reports.
A spokesperson for Kardashian West said she was “badly shaken but physically unharmed.” She quickly left France after the incident and reunited with her family, including husband Kanye West. E! News reports she has been surrounded by hordes for security since the incident.
“Obviously she can’t be low-profile where she’s staying if she’s advertising what she’s doing and advertising her wealth,” Hagon added to People.
Hagon, who was security to the royal family, continued, “It wasn’t something, like, they were just walking down the street and said, ‘Oh, I heard that Kardashian was here. Let’s just go in and rob her.’ This was an organized attacked based on known information.
“Her threat level is high because her wealth and activities are well-known,” Hagon explained. “If you really are concerned about your personal security, then you’ve really got to make it as difficult as possible for people to [home] in on you as a possible target.”
I’m slightly horrified that this incident happened just today and yet some are already turning to victim-blaming. Kardashian West did not ask for this in any way, shape or form. It is not Kardashian West’s fault at all. Rather than discussing what she could have done to prevent this, we should be discussing how we can ensure this never happens again.
Just like with any other assault case against a woman, it is irresponsible to say that a woman should feel ashamed of herself for bringing any unwanted action upon herself. Rather, we should focus on what we are teaching men in this world that some of them feel they have the right to do this to people.

As if victim-blaming isn’t bad enough, the comments about the incident are downright disgusting.

Kim Kardashian got robbed at gunpoint. The robber took her money but couldn't find her soul.

I would have an army protecting me. I don't believe she was robbed. And if she was, she had it coming.

Yeah. She brought it on herself. She is not smart. I don't feel sorry for her.

Please remember: Kardashian West — despite her celebrity status — is a mother and a human being, and no one deserves what happened to her. Don’t make this incident worse for her than it already was.
