There’s nothing better than when a fan-favorite soap actor returns to a show, and that’s exactly what might be happening on one show. A blind item, posted on SerialScoop.com, has viewers buzzing over who they could be referring to regarding a Days of Our Lives return.
The post said, “In 2017, look for this performer to make a quick return to Salem for a special event that should make fans very happy.”
While they didn’t mention a specific gender, the name on the tip of everyone’s tongues is Alison Sweeney. Given the fact that some top-name talent has already been announced in the upcoming months, we think this is a pretty good guess.

Here are a few of the clues we should all take a closer look at.
She’s open to a return
Sweeney has always said that she loved her time as Sami Brady and that she cherishes her 21 years on the NBC soap. In September she told SheKnows Soaps that a return was not out of the picture.
She explained, “I’ve definitely learned over the years to never say never. I would always be willing to have the talk.”

She’s returned before
Sweeney made a brief appearance in October 2015 as a part of DOOL’s 50th anniversary celebration. Last year was a big year for the soap, so it’s clear she was happy to honor the major milestone and add a bit of Sami drama along the way.
Familiar faces
DOOL has been looking to add some luster to its storylines and they recently announced that Christie Clarke (Carrie Brady), Austin Peck (Austin Reed) and Greg Vaughan (Eric Brady) are headed back to Salem. If three of the Brady family members are back, why wouldn’t Sami make an appearance, too?

That special event
Could it be that Marlena and John are finally getting married again? We’ve been waiting a long time for this and it wouldn’t be right if Marlena’s daughter, Sami, wasn’t in attendance for the wedding.
Deidre Hall, who plays Marlena, even teased a possible wedding on Home & Family this summer.
“We have got three love stories coming up this summer, mine among them. Um, I didn’t say wedding, did I say wedding? No, I didn’t say that,” she said. “I don’t think I said wedding, but there are several weddings coming up this summer.”
Social media
While Sweeney is currently mum on social media about a DOOL return, she has dropped clues in the past. When she decided to come back in 2015, she shared her excitement with fans on her Facebook page.
So keep checking her social media feed because a Sami return is just what DOOL needs and we would be thrilled to have Sweeney temporarily back on the soap.
