Natasha Bure suffers The Voice‘s most bittersweet elimination yet

It would have been cool to see two members of the Bure family excel on reality television, but alas, it’s not meant to be.

Less than a week after she impressed The Voice viewers with her amazing rendition of “Can’t Help Falllong in Love,” Natasha Bure is already off the show. She fought hard for her spot in the Battles, but clearly, her voice and her name weren’t enough to secure her a place in the next round of the competition.

Bure’s failure to make it through the Battles was bittersweet not only because of her connection to Candace Cameron Bure, but also in light of her clear chemistry with Riley Elmore. They got on well from the beginning — their flirtation was evident when they met up with their coach and mentor and worked on Bure’s bundle of nerves (which was the main thing standing between her and success on The Voice). They amped up the flirting during their performance, with little touches such as a flick of the hair indicating Bure’s interest in her fellow singer. Yes, it could have all been for the sake of showbiz, but it certainly felt genuine.
Perhaps the most painful aspect of seeing Bure eliminated was witnessing Elmore’s reaction. Although thrilled to make it through to the next round of the competition, he was also heartbroken at the thought of continuing on without his favorite contestant. Tearing up, he said it had been wonderful to work with Bure — and that he would miss her.
I’m by no means the only person to notice the spark between Bure and Elmore. During tonight’s episode, several viewers predicted that this could be the beginning of a beautiful relationship for the two singers.

Bure and Elmore clearly have a connection, and whether it’s friendship or romance, they’ve emerged from the competition with a real bond. And that’s one of the great things about The Voice — not only does it help talented artists gain an international audience, it allows them to form close friendships (and perhaps romances) with their fellow contestants. I can’t wait to see more from Elmore — and I hope he and Bure continue to make music together!
