Jerry O’Connell is reportedly the latest celebrity vying to be the new Live! with Kelly cohost. Could he be the one to fill the Michael Strahan void?

According to a source who spoke with E! News, “Jerry O’Connell really wants the job. He’s made no secret that he would love to do it. He gets along great with Kelly [Ripa] and they have great chemistry. He’s hopeful. He’s having anyone he knows put in a good word.”
O’Connell joins a big list of rumored celeb names who are also interested in the hosting spot. Neil Patrick Harris, Fred Savage, Andy Cohen and Jeff Gordon are among the names reportedly being considered.

O’Connell isn’t the only actor to throw his name into the hat as of late, either. Christian Slater also said he would definitely be interested in the gig.
During an appearance on TheEllen DeGeneres Show, Slater explained, “I love it, I live about, you know, six blocks away from there. It’s one of the greatest jobs ever, so yeah, Kelly, I’m available! Let’s do it!”
He added about Ripa, “I love her, she’s amazing.”
Meanwhile, another of E!’s sources told the outlet that the network isn’t in any rush to fill the spot since summer ratings didn’t dip as they’re normally expected to. It seems that all the publicity surrounding the new host has done the show well.

Personally, I don’t understand why Ripa can’t just host the show all on her own. If the late night guys can do it, why can’t Ripa?
