The Country Music Awards on Wednesday night was filled with surprises. Some were bad, like Dolly Parton not being able to finish her speech even though she won a Lifetime Achievement Award, and others great, like Beyoncé showing up and performing “Daddy Lessons” with the Dixie Chicks and Taylor Swift making a return to the CMAs stage.

Swift’s music has recently been more pop than country, so fans were pleased when she returned to the country music stage to introduce the Entertainer of the Year (an accolade she has won twice). Taking to the stage in a beautiful sparkly gown, Swift was met with a round of applause as she addressed the audience.

“Hi, Nashville. It’s been almost 13 years since I came to Nashville with a dream to be a songwriter and recording artist, and I learned so much about what it means to be an entertainer from the remarkable artists in this arena tonight,” she said, adding that she was proud to be able to present the award because all five nominees were so deserving (however, it’s worth noting that Garth Brooks won).
But it wasn’t the nominees that fans were excited about. It was the fact that Swift had finally returned to her country music roots — and many people took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

Yep, it turns out a lot of people only tuned in only to see Swift.
Me: I don't think I'm going to watch the CMA's tonight.
