During the past seven months of Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman’s divorce journey, Kopelman has come off looking like a bit of a jerk.
The gossip mill and ever-so-reliable inside sources claimed that the couple split because Kopelman wasn’t a fan of Barrymore’s free-spirited ways, and the language used to describe Kopelman’s feelings made us all cringe. But now, as new details emerge about how Kopelman and Barrymore plan to spend the holidays together, we’re starting to see their situation in a very different light.
For the sake of their two daughters, the former couple will be spending Christmas together as a family unit, according to Barrymore.

“Most of the family is going on this big adventure trip and our kids are just too young, so Will and I are going to do something fun with them,” she told Page Six on Thursday. “We have like three sets of different Christmas plans… and then we’re going on this [vacation]. It’s going to be really nice and I’m going to a warmer climate, so I’m excited.”
And Barrymore says the holidays aren’t the only time she and Kopelman plan to spend time together. In fact, they’re still close friends.
“We were together today at our kids’ school,” she added. “We spend weekends together. He’s running in the [New York City] Marathon, so we’re going to go and wave him on.”

Barrymore’s happy co-parenting report is awesome — and also a far cry from what we were hearing about her relationship with Kopelman over the summer.
“She’s so hippie-dippy and all over the place and it started to become unbearable for him,” an inside source told Us Weekly of Kopelman’s feelings about Barrymore in July, adding that Barrymore “tried to be what Will wanted” but “she just isn’t a normal housewife.”

Who knows how many of the reports are actually true, but previous rumors certainly didn’t have us in Kopelman’s corner. Now, awesome co-parenting to keep their kids healthy and happy? That’s something we can get behind.
