After more than a year of dating, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton‘s relationship is still going strong (we’ve lost track of how many times the possibility of marriage has been reported). But perhaps the secret to a happy relationship is not to discuss politics.

While tons of celebs are vocal about who they voted for in the 2016 election, Stefani and Shelton remained remarkably quiet. According to a new report, the reason for their silence is largely due to the fact that their political views could cause tension in their relationship.
“One thing that is making Blake and Gwen’s relationship strong is not to talk about the election to each other,” a source told Hollywood Life. “They are monitoring it on their own terms, but not bringing it up to each other on who and what they are voting for because they don’t want to possibly have different voting views that would start an argument.”

For the good of their relationship, Shelton and Stefani decided to just completely eliminate discussion of who would be the next president. According to the source, “They feel that keeping the election out of their relationship is for the best.”
Call us crazy, but wouldn’t you want to knowhow the person you’re potentially marrying feels about the candidate who’s going to run the country? We would, but hey, whatever works.
