Many people, including a handful of celebrities, are calling for a boycott of People magazine.
More: All of Donald Trump‘s recent scandals that make him unfit for the White House
The boycott is in response to People‘s latest issue, which features president-elect Donald Trump on its cover in a smiling photo. The headline reads, “President Trump: His life, his family & his astonishing journey to the White House.”
The glowing cover comes less than a month after People published a harrowing first-person account by one of its writers, Natasha Stoynoff, of being attacked and sexually assaulted by Trump.
Stoynoff, who covered Trump for People in the early 2000s, wrote about how he cornered her in private rooms during interviews, how “within seconds he was pushing me against the wall and forcing his tongue down my throat,” all while Trump’s then-pregnant wife was in the home. People‘s decision to publish the story was controversial, but it came soon after Trump’s hot mic tapes from 2005 were released, showing that he had literally bragged about his ability to sexually assault women because he was famous.

Judd Apatow, Chrissy Teigen and other celebrities have criticized the magazine for featuring Trump on the cover.
People‘s editor-in-chief, Jess Cagle, sent a memo to employees about the cover, addressing the controversy.
“I assure you that the cover on the president-elect is in no way a celebration or endorsement of this deeply polarizing figure,” Cagle wrote. “And we continue to stand steadfastly by Natasha. Her attack is of course recounted in the cover story. Last Friday, we posted a video in which she again discusses the attack and responds to the nasty things Trump has said about her recently. We will never forget what happened to Natasha, and frankly we don’t want our audience to forget, either.”
Cagle continued, “Some readers are sickened to see Trump on the cover. Others are thrilled by it. In any case, it seemed wrong to put anyone other than the president-elect on the cover this week. He was elected president. We can’t pretend it didn’t happen. Some of you have been criticized on social media for my decision. This is unfortunate and unfair to you. Some of you may personally disagree with the decision. I’m here if anyone wants to talk.”
