Smith wrote a song titled “November 9” — which was released via SoundCloud on Sunday, Nov. 13 — which she hopes will inspire fellow Americans.

In the caption, Smith shared the inspiration behind her song, which she referred to as a “transcendental lullaby” with a hashtag. She wrote, “I wrote this song on the day of the election. Peace and revelations to all!”

The hauntingly beautiful lyrics include, “Baby girl, I know you’re tired. / Don’t let the world put out your fire. / Take my hand and you will see / sadness and anger aren’t everything.” While the second verse goes on to address men, as she sings, “Baby boy, don’t lose your sweetness. / Don’t think your humanity equals weakness. / Take my hand and you shall see / suppression and pain are not everything.”
