Wait, I’m confused. Beyoncé made it to the Country Music Awards this year but didn’t show up for the American Music Awards tonight? Taylor Swift, Britney Spears and Kanye West were also notably missing. What gives?

Here’s why your favorite stars missed all the AMAs fun tonight.
1. Kanye West
West is probably recovering from his rant against Beyoncé and Jay Z at his Sacramento concert last night, If you’ll remember, he claimed at one of his concerts that Beyoncé’s VMAs win was rigged. He was so upset that after only performing three songs, West left the stage and didn’t return. Fans, some of whom had paid $250 for tickets, were furious.
2. Britney Spears
Spears was rumored to be performing at the AMAs this year, but it turns out she couldn’t even attend. Instead, she was busy wrapping up her Vegas show, which continues into 2017.

3. Beyoncé
Beyoncé is probably in hiding from West. Kidding, kidding… kind of. Queen Bey is notoriously private, though, and she probably isn’t interested in facing all the tabloids tonight. The publicity from the last couple of days has yet to slow down.

4. Taylor Swift
No word yet on why Swift wasn’t able to make the AMAs, but she did give a shoutout to her girl squad squeeze, Gigi Hadid, who was hosting the show.

5. Kylie Jenner
Kylie Jenner also skipped out on the AMAs because her beloved dog, Bambi, had two pups — and she intends to keep them both.
Jenner took to Twitter to inform fans, but we think it’s safe to say no one will be mad at her.

Of course, just because some of your favorites were missing from the show, that doesn’t mean the AMAs were lacking in star power. Fifth Harmony, Hailee Steinfeld, Drake, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars all attended, among others. Even Justin Bieber showed up via live video from Switzerland to perform.
