The love that Lace Morris and Handsome Squidward Grant Kemp found on Bachelor in Paradise was clearly too good to be true.

Morris, from Ben Higgins’ season of The Bachelor, and Kemp, from JoJo Fletcher’s season of The Bachelorette, hit it off almost immediately when they met in paradise, and as the season progressed, it became pretty obvious that neither of them would find a crazy that so perfectly complemented their own in any of the other contestants on the show.
But that level of crazy was also unsustainable in the real world they revealed as they opened up about their breakup in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
“It really was mutual. We both have our issues we need to work on, and we can’t really give each other what we need at this time. It’s just not the right timing. We have so much love for each other, and it’s weird because the chemistry is there, and I’m thinking, ‘Why can’t we make this work?’ But it’s just not possible right now,” Morris explained.
She added, “For a month, we were kind of starting to bicker, and it was a thing of, something’s got to give. It was a cycle we couldn’t break… I think he’s an amazing man. I’m super-sad that it ended, but I know it’s for the best right now.”

Their relationship was volatile from the beginning. BIP documented their explosive fights, and they seemed to take everything — the highs and the lows — to extremes. After the show, they got matching tattoos reading “Grace,” a combination of both of their names, on their wrists. Morris and Kemp were living together in San Francisco, but they revealed that just a few days ago, Morris moved out and headed back to her hometown of Denver, Colorado.
“She’s a great person. There were things we were trying to work on that we expected to get better with time, and unfortunately it kind of went the opposite way,” Kemp said. “When you’re in a regular relationship, there’s already challenges you face. We did everything backwards… I don’t regret going on the show. It kind of fast-forwarded our whole situation. We figured everything out now that it takes most people a couple years to figure out.”
He added that they both hope they can reunite sometime in the future.
“I think the odds are definitely against us,” he admitted. “But I know the person that she is. That’s the person I wanted to marry.”
Morris added, “I could only pray or hope that there is a future with us. I see one, but I just don’t know when.”
