Mariah Carey and James Packer’s relationship is over, and it has turned from civil to bitter in record time. But despite popular opinion, she did not just shade her former fiancé.

Someone went to a great deal of trouble to create a video, using footage from Carey’s exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, to make it look like she shaded Packer during a promotional interview for her reality TV show Mariah’s World. In the video, the fake interviewer asks Carey a question about Packer and whether fans can expect to see him on the show, to which Carey replies, “Oh, he has fans?”
The clip was shared on Kempire Radio, and it has fans going nuts thinking that Carey just threw the most hilarious and subtle shade — except she didn’t!

Some of the people who have been duped include commenter Franky Goldschmidt, who wrote, “And this is partly why I love her so much.. oh the shade.”
Ka’Juan D Hill wrote, “She got the best shade.” And Alan Tung shared similar sentiments, writing, “the shade comes so natural.”

As for whether fans of Carey’s reality TV show will actually see Packer in it, it’s unlikely, as TMZ recently reported that the businessman was trying everything he could to have producers remove him. The site stated that Packer wants to see proof that he signed the appropriate releases (which he reportedly did not).
