Is all the drama on The View going to cost it Barbara Walters as a producer?

As the show continues to be somewhat of a revolving door for co-hosts, sources say Walters is fed up with its reputation for backstage drama and that she thinks ABC execs are to blame for ruining her legacy.
“She feels they’ve ruined the franchise that she and Bill Geddie built,” a source explained to Fox News. “Instead of focusing on smart, educated women with strong talent, they cast uninformed child actors on the show. The legacy has been compromised because of poor casting and bad leadership under ABC News.”

The source said that’s the reason Walters didn’t make the post-election show where she was scheduled for a guest appearance alongside original hosts Debbie Matenopoulos, Meredith Vieira, Joy Behar and Star Jones. Walters’ rep, however, denies that, saying that she was never going to be able to make the show because she was on a prescheduled vacation in Florida with her daughter.
“It was a prearranged vacation for the two of them,” the rep said, adding that Walters doesn’t actually have any issues with The View. “She calls the control room multiple times a week to offer her suggestions. She has a wonderful relationship with the show.”
An ABC rep also denied the story that Walters is distancing herself from The View.
“There’s no better producer than Barbara Walters, and we’re always grateful for her notes about the show,” the rep said. “The ratings are up, and we’re very proud of the team.”
