Alan Thicke’s death triggers an outpouring of love from celebrities on Twitter

Alan Thicke died on Tuesday, Dec. 13 after suffering a heart attack while playing hockey with his son, Carter, Entertainment Tonight reports. He was 69.

His other son, Robin Thicke, took to Instagram to confirm the news and pay tribute to the late actor (whose career spanned five decades and saw him in roles such as the beloved Jason Seaver in the sitcom Growing Pains). Robin revealed that his dad was the best man he ever knew and his best friend.

However, Robin was not the only person to react to the news of Thicke’s death, and social media has been filled with tributes. Among the reactions are tweets from Lin-Manuel Miranda, Rob Lowe, John Legend, Demi Lovato, Ellen DeGeneres, David Hasselhoff and Ben Stiller — all of whom were deeply touched by the legacy that Thicke left.

Thicke’s first wife, Gloria Loring, also took to social media to thank everyone for their kindness during this hard time. She referred to Thicke’s passing as a shock.
