Julie Chen is a shade queen.

During an appearance on Watch What Happens: Live, Chen piggybacked on what a source said Barbara Walters thinks about The View these days and got brutal with her own thoughts about the show.
Last week, Page Six reported that Barbara Walters has been distancing herself from The View, a show she co-created and now produces, because she “fears the show will be remembered for its petty backstage bickering and revolving door of talent.”
A source told the site, “She feels they’ve ruined the franchise that she and Bill Geddie built. Instead of focusing on smart, educated women with strong talent, they cast uninformed child actors on the show. The legacy has been compromised because of poor casting and bad leadership under ABC News.”

When asked about those comments, Chen’s response was a salty, “I believed every word I read in Page Six.”
She continues, “I do think Barbara Walters is probably like, ‘This amazing show I created is now just kind of withering away with a revolving door of hosts that people can’t keep straight.’ I mean, I should know all the names of the hosts, and I don’t. Because it changes so often!”
It’s worth noting that Chen is a co-host on The Talk, which is The View’s big competition, and that hosts on both shows have been known to be a little nasty to each other from time to time. Still, this level of shade-throwing deserves recognition.
