John Legend singing “All of Me” is enough to make anyone swoon, but would you swoon if he did a dramatic reading of lyrics from artists like Justin Bieber, ‘NSYNC and Destiny’s Child? SheKnows put the singer to the test. Did he pass with flying colors?

Well, it wasn’t as easy as you’d think for him. As a singer, Legend is used to having a melody with the lyrics. While it can seem hard to believe that a song from The Sound of Music would stump him, it certainly did. Maybe all of the “hos” in the song got him confused.
“Lay dee ho, lay dee ho, lay deeee ho,” he attempted. “I have no idea what that song is.”

The next round was easy as pie for Legend. He knew right away it was from the Biebs.
“That’s Justin Bieber, ‘You Should Go and Love Yourself,’ that’s what that song’s called,” Legend said. “I always think he means something else by that ‘love’ word.”

Next up was ‘NSYNC’s “Tearin’ Up My Heart,” but it doesn’t seem like Legend was much of a fanboy of boy bands back in the early aughts. He was befuddled by the lyrics.
“I don’t know this one,” he admitted. “I was going to say, is it Backstreet Boys?”
Close, but no cigar.

The most hilarious moment came when a series of “ugh, huh, uh-huh, yeah, OK” lyrics confused Legend.
“Is this Katy Perry?” he asked.
Not even close. It was Destiny’s Child with “Say My Name.”

All hope was not lost with the final lyric, which was undeniably DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince with “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” While this didn’t tie up the game, it gave Legend a respectable one-point loss.
