There’s been much talk about Mariah Carey‘s 35-carat engagement ring since her split from James Packer back in October.

Some think she should give the ring back to Packer, while others think a charity would benefit nicely from the money (the ring is worth $10 million). But it seems there’s only one thing Carey wants to do with her ring: wear it. And according to People magazine, she’s doing just that.
Understandably, some people think it’s weird, but the ring itself could have significance for another reason: It was reportedly designed by her longtime friend Wilfredo Rosado. So, while it’s safe to assume that Carey has an array of diamond rings she could choose to wear, maybe she still has some kind of sentimental attachment to this ring. Plus, it’s crazy beautiful.

Either way, any bling Carey wears is going to attract attention from the media. Just today, Hollywood Life commented on a sparkler that the songstress was wearing while shopping in New York City on Thursday. The publication speculated whether it could have been a new engagement ring, this time from backup singer Bryan Tanaka (who Carey appears to be having a little fling with). Of course, as Hollywood Life later noted, it wasn’t a new engagement ring; rather, it was the same one Packer gave Carey.
But that just goes to prove celebs can’t wear any ring without someone placing too much importance on it. So, if Carey wants to keep her engagement ring and wear it, who are we to judge?
