Being known by Mariah Carey is the new test of fame, apparently

Mariah Carey the shade queen is at it again.

Ever since she infamously claimed she had no idea who Jennifer Lopez is, it’s become sort of a Hollywood status symbol to have Carey actually publicly admit that she knows who you are. Andy Cohen was more than willing to play that game when Carey appeared on Watch What Happens: Live, and he asked her whether she knows a whole bunch of other diva celebs.

Demi Lovato definitely got the worst of it. Lovato has thrown some shade Carey’s way on social media, saying Carey is “nasty” to JLo, who, in Lovato’s opinion, is a better singer than Carey. Carey’s response?

“I don’t know her either.”

Ouch.

Carey continued, “I wouldn’t say anything to her. She should come up, introduce herself to me, say here’s my opinion, what do you think about it? That’s how you handle shit.”

The in-studio audience loved Carey’s response and cheered after she said her piece. But how do some of entertainment’s other biggest names stand up to Carey’s divatude? She had answers for a lot of others too.

Ariana Grande? Doesn’t know her.

Madonna? They’ve never had any conversations.

Miley Cyrus? Carey thinks they met once in a bathroom “for, like, two seconds.” Carey also wonders how she’s supposed to remember someone like Cyrus, with whom she did a Divas concert, when she’s done shows with people like Aretha Franklin and Diana Ross. Salty much?

Some other celebs got off a little easier. Apparently Carey knows — and likes — Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and Britney Spears. How did they get so lucky?
