Thank God it’s Friday because the level of rage we’re experiencing right now needs to be immediately followed by the weekend.
Amal Clooney, the wildly smart, passionate, successful human rights lawyer who also happens to be married to George Clooney, the lucky guy, gave an impassioned speech at the United Nations on Thursday. Amal urged a formal investigation into ISIS militants who she says have committed genocide against her clients, the Kurdish Yazidi, in Iraq.

“Not one ISIS militant has faced trial for international crimes anywhere in the world… Why is it that nothing has been done?” Amal asked in her address before several nations. “I’m asking you today to stand up for justice. Every conflict reminds us that there can be no lasting peace without justice.”
Her work on this case could save countless innocent lives. But, according to Time magazine, we have more important things to worry about:
I just can’t. I don’t even have words to express the rage that completely consumes me at reading that sexist garbage heap of a tweet. Luckily, the internet was all over that, so I’ll just be sitting back and doing some deep breathing exercises over here.

Time‘s article is as bad as its tweet. The first sentence says, “Amal Clooney was all business on International Women’s Day” and goes on to describe her outfit. Yeah, no shit, Time. Of course she was all business. SHE. WAS. THERE. TO. DO. HER. JOB. If you don’t pick up on the sexism in that line, think about this: If any man addressed the United Nations, would an article about him point out that he’s “all business” before listing details about what he’s wearing? Never.
Time casually moves from describing Amal’s outfit to describing the woman next to her, Nadia Murad, treating her like she’s an accessory to match Amal. In reality, Murad is a Nobel Peace Prize nominee and a fucking ISIS survivor.
Oh, and the article was written by a man. Because of course it was.Happy belated International Women’s Day, y’all.
