Megyn Kelly is ambitious. That’s certainly no secret.
So, it’s really not surprising that she has a pretty lofty goal for the next stage in her career: She basically wants to be the next Oprah.

Sources told Page Six that Kelly was, understandably, exhausted by the combative reporting she did at Fox News by the time she jumped ship to join NBC’s lineup.
“There was a lot of tough news to report on her show at Fox News,” one insider told the site. “A lot of combative interviewing, going after people. Doing that every night was difficult. Megyn feels she has more to offer. She wants to help people the way Oprah did, and do something more positive. She’ll be focusing on issues and bringing in real people as well as celebrities. Plus, she has a sense of humor and she wants to use that.”

We’ve known since 2015 that Kelly aspires to be like Oprah — she said as much in an interview that year with Vanity Fair: “Barbara Walters has retired, Diane Sawyer left her anchor role. Oprah has moved to the OWN network and is doing a different thing now. So why not me?”
What we now know is that Kelly is planning to use her new job at NBC to pursue that dream.
According to an insider, “Megyn will have the Sunday night show on NBC to scratch that itch. That’s where you’ll see the big interviews and stories.”
NBC is currently searching for a candidate to executive produce Kelly’s show. She’s not allowed to be part of that process yet because she’s still under contract with Fox until July 1.
But does she actually have the chops to be the next Oprah? Only time will tell.
